Pure Staff is honoured to be the proud sponsor of three community teams; the Wrens Nest U9 Girls Team, Handsworth RUFC and Kings Norton RUFC. To commemorate this special relationship and provide an update on their progress in February 2023, we’ve decided to reflect on some of their outstanding achievements over the past month.
Wrens Nest Under 9’s – A Roaring Victory
Wrens Nest Girls have been absolutely unstoppable, having gone the whole of 2023 undefeated. It’s been a phenomenal few weeks for this sensational team with a 0-0 draw against Sedgley and Gornal that resulted in a thrilling 3-0 victory on penalties.
Wrens Nest Girls sealed a remarkable 2-1 victory against Bournville and a 3-1 win against Halas Hawkes. Wrens Nest Girls are brimming with confidence ahead of their next match against Catshill Girls, they have all the ingredients to take home another victory.
Handsworth RUFC Update
In an intensely competitive match, Handsworth RUFC faced their long-time rivals Walsall on the 28th. It was neck-and-neck all the way, with the score at a standstill of 14-14 until the dying minutes. Unfortunately, with no substitutes available, Handsworth RUFC conceded two late tries and lost 26-14 in a heartbreaking finale.
On the 4th, the friendly game was cancelled, but on the 11th we faced off against the reigning champs of our league at home. It was a hard battle with Handsworth RUFC pushing for every point, though ultimately we were outmanoeuvred in an astounding 67-0 defeat.
18th, we have Trentham away in a league game, hoping to get back to winning ways.
Kings Norton RUFC
Despite being in 7th position with 35 points, Kings Norton RUFC is determined to make a real statement in the last 8 league games. See league table below:
- Training numbers are good but some sessions have fallen foul to the cold weather.
- We now have the postponed home game v Bedworth game rescheduled for 18th March.
