This contribution reaffirms our ongoing commitment to community safety and raising awareness around the crucial importance of public-access emergency equipment.
About OurJay Foundation
The OurJay Foundation was established in loving memory of 18-year-old Jamie Rees, who tragically passed away following a sudden cardiac arrest on New Year’s Day in 2022, because the nearest defibrillator was locked away inside a school building, critical minutes were lost. In the wake of this devastating loss, Jamie’s family launched the foundation to ensure that no other family has to go through the same heartbreak.
The incredible work of the OurJay Foundation focuses on saving lives through three core pillars:
- Public Access Defibrillators (AEDs): Funding and installing accessible, 24/7 defibrillators in unlocked, weatherproof cabinets on community walls, schools, pubs, and commercial hubs.
- Bleed Control Kits: Providing advanced trauma kits alongside AEDs to ensure bystanders have the equipment needed to manage catastrophic bleeding in the critical minutes before paramedics arrive.
- Training & Education: Delivering hands-on CPR, AED, and bleed control training to schools, businesses, and local groups so the community is confident and ready to act in an emergency.
In addition to their outstanding community work, the foundation passionately campaigns for #JamiesLaw, pushing for mandatory public-access defibrillators in all UK police patrol vehicles.
The OurJay Foundation also have an app available for download on the App Store and Google Play, which tells you where the nearest defibrillator is located.
