This is a role within the fresh produce sector, so a background in food is essential.
The outline of the duties:
- Lead the QC team to ensure high standards of operation, adherence to standards and quality requirements for individual customers are continuously achieved
- Set and improve systems of work, procedures and work instructions, to ensure high standard of work, accuracy and performance of the QC team
- Manage Team’s rota and holidays to provide required staff presence
- Be responsible for QC staff training on the Quality Manual and indicate their roles and responsibilities, ensuring training requirements are met. Ensure that all the Quality Control operators are trained, and they understand how to use the system from Intake to Lines and Dispatch
- Supervise, train and provide feedback to all QCs across the production floor; provide support and coaching to the QC team members, to ensure that the work they perform is of desired standard, and their activities are carried our effectively and efficiently
- Provide and support quality assessments of internal operations and product quality to ensure end product specification is being achieved
- Ensure that all documents are completed correctly and ensure that traceability is kept from Raw to Finished and Finished to Raw materials, perform traceability exercises as / when required
- Work closely with the production and commercial teams to identify and resolve any quality issues that arise during the manufacturing process
- Collaborate with managers and supervisors to promote a ‘right first time’ approach and enhance overall quality performance
- Work with Technical Manager to ensure compliance is being met to maintain accreditation with BRCGS and customer standards
- Ensure Quality Systems conform to regulations and quality policies
- Assist in the Technical and Quality system audits from customers and third parties
- Support Technical Manager in dealing with customer complaints and non-conformance’s, including full root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective action
