Pure Staff’s Driving Team are recruiting HGV Class 1 Drivers in Avonmouth, Bristol for consistent ongoing work with one of the UK’s largest and longest-established logistics businesses, completing trunking and retail store deliveries for a major national retail customer. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Class 1 Drivers looking for a strong weekday rate, afternoon starts and consistent work without the need for handball.
The operation offers plenty of different start times each day between 12:00 noon and 16:00, making this particularly suitable for drivers who prefer afternoon work rather than early-morning starts. The regular working pattern is Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts available on an optional basis for drivers who want additional work.
Pay & Hours
Monday to Friday:
- £21.57 per hour (with holiday pay rolled up) or £19.25 per hour (if you opt for holiday accrual which is paid when you book time off)
- If you opt for holiday pay accrued separately it’s worth an additional £2.32 per hour
Optional Saturdays:
- £23.53 per hour (with holiday pay rolled up) or £21.00 per hour (if you opt for holiday accrual which is paid when you book time off)
- If you opt for holiday pay accrued separately it’s worth an additional £2.53 per hour

Your Typical Working Day
You’ll be completing a mixture of HGV Class 1 trunking and retail store deliveries from the customer’s Avonmouth operation. Typical duties include:
- Afternoon starts between 12:00 and 16:00
- Shifts averaging approximately 10 hours
- HGV Class 1 trunking
- Retail store deliveries
- No handball
- Strapping and securing loads
- Completing thorough vehicle and load checks
- Ensuring trailers and loads are correctly contained before leaving site
- Completing delivery paperwork accurately
- Following Drivers’ Hours, Working Time and site procedures
Important – Load Security. Load security is a critical requirement of this assignment. Drivers must correctly strap and contain their loads and complete all necessary checks before moving away from the loading bay or taking a trailer. The customer takes load security extremely seriously. Failure to follow the site’s required load-security procedures could result in immediate removal from the assignment.

What We’re Looking For
To be considered for this HGV Class 1 Driver position you’ll need:
- A valid UK Category C+E / Class 1 Licence
- A valid Driver CPC / DQC
- A valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Previous HGV Class 1 driving experience
- No more than 6 penalty points on your licence
- Confidence with strapping and securing loads
- Good understanding of load security
- Good knowledge of Drivers’ Hours and Working Time regulations
- A professional, reliable and safety-conscious attitude
Previous retail store delivery, trunking or general distribution experience would be advantageous.
