Pure Staff’s Driving Team are currently recruiting Van Drivers for an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity with a growing drinks distribution business based at their Edinburgh depot. During the initial temporary period, you’ll work Tuesday to Friday with a guaranteed 32 hours’ pay each week, or Monday to Friday with a guaranteed 40 hours pay each week (your preference). Following successful completion of the temporary period of around 15 weeks, this position is intended to transfer into permanent employment directly with the customer.

Permanent four-day positions are available, increasing to approximately 36 hours per week and paying £25,908 per annum. Candidates wanting additional hours may also have the opportunity to move onto a five-day / approximately 45-hour position paying £32,385 per annum.

One of the biggest benefits of this opportunity is that drivers are permitted to take their company delivery van home at the end of the working day and keep it overnight, significantly reducing the cost and inconvenience of travelling to and from the depot every day. Depending on your planned route, there will also be occasions where you can travel directly from home to your first delivery, rather than travelling into the Edinburgh depot first. The role involves delivering beer, wines and spirits to hospitality and retail customers throughout the surrounding area. The customer’s distribution network operates across the UK, with depots covering multiple regions.

Pay & Working Hours – Whilst Temporary

£13.84 per hour + accrued holiday pay worth an additional £1.67 per hour

• Tuesday to Friday or Monday to Friday
• Typical hours 07:30 to 15:30
• Guaranteed minimum 8 hours’ pay per day (job and knock)
• Occasionally you may finish early while still receiving your guaranteed hours
• Guaranteed 32 hours’ pay per week for a four day week or 40 hours for a five day week
• Company van can be taken home overnight
• Weekly pay through Pure Staff (your employer while temporary)

Following a Successful Temp-to-Perm Transfer…

Four-Day Permanent Position is £25,908 annual salary. Or the Five-Day Permanent Option is £32,385 annual salary.

What Will You Be Doing?

This is a hands-on dray delivery role, rather than simply driving from A to B. Drivers will normally complete one planned trip per day with approximately 8 to 12 drops, delivering beer, wines and spirits to hospitality and retail customers throughout the surrounding area. On particularly busy days, there may be a second, shorter and more local run. Your duties will include:

• Driving a 3.5T delivery van
• Loading and safely unloading customer orders
• Delivering beer, wines and spirits
• Handling kegs, casks and packaged stock
• Delivering products into customer cellars or the nearest safe delivery point where required
• Collecting and returning empty kegs and casks
• Accurately checking goods for delivery
• Completing pre and post-trip vehicle checks
• Providing a professional and courteous service to customers
• Supporting the wider depot operation when required

Please be aware that this is a physically demanding role, so applicants need to be comfortable with the manual handling involved.

Training & Support

Previous dray experience is useful, but isn’t essential. Your first day will include classroom-based training covering the handling and delivery requirements of the role. You’ll then work alongside an experienced driver as part of a buddy system, allowing you to become familiar with the deliveries, customers and routes before driving independently.

To be considered for this Van Driver position, you should have:

• A valid UK driving licence
• No more than 3 points on your licence
• Good customer service and communication skills
• The physical capability to safely handle kegs, casks and packaged drinks
