Quantity Surveyor & Billing Team Leader
My client is looking for a dynamic quantity surveyor to business partner operations and lead the current small quantity surveying and billing department. The role will provide plenty of opportunities for growth and help shape processes and procedures within the business as well as including a wide variety of projects and contracts to get involved with.
The company has grown at a steady pace over the last 20 years and they are keen to take advantage of the a very productive last couple of years and further consolidate their position as one of the go to surfacing contractors in the midlands. They work across a varied customer base in a fast paced and rewarding environment which is growing continuously.
The role will be based out of the Redditch office as part of a team of six. There will be scope to spend several days a month in their Oldbury and Wellesbourne offices (if desired) and working hours are 8:30am until 5pm Monday to Friday.
The candidate must have enough experience in order to hit the ground running, with familiarity around building BOQ, negotiating final accounts and understand the essentials around civils and construction industry terms. Sticking to strict deadlines and managing time in the most effective way is also fundamental to the role.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Liaising with site supervisors and foreman
- Building BOQ
- Commercial support to management
- Invoicing clients
- Job costing and job performance reviews
- Project reporting
- Mentoring and monitoring of junior staff
- Monthly performance and progress reporting to Office Manager
- Occasional site visits
- Process subcontractor invoices
- Labour and cost journals
- Work with business development on tenders and re-bids
- Analyse and feedback on commercial risks
- Working with purchasing to ensure correct pricing
Skills and Qualifications
- RICS / QS Degree or equivalent would be an advantage but not essential
- Experience in managing people and ability to work in a team
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good Microsoft Excel skills are a must
- Fundamental understanding of accounting
- Attention to detail
- Ability to organise, plan and strategize
- Experience with Sage or Eque2 Construct would be an advantage
