My client is an international metals business with a worldwide reputation for quality. Due to a continued growth in orders and bringing in new machinery, they are recruiting for a full time and Permanent CNC Operators (Milling) for their facility in Avonmouth Bristol on a Rotational Shift Pattern.
Rotational Shift:
Wk 1 – Mon to Fri 0600-1400
Wk 2 – Mon to Wed 1400-0000, Thurs 1400-2330 (Friday off)
Salary = £30,371 including shift allowance
Main role and responsibilities
Operates computer numerical control milling machines to fabricate machined parts.
Duties:
- Checks to material allocated to be machined, length, width, thickness, spec, alloy, grain direction, lot number before machining
- Checks to drawings to agree with advised sizes on sale order
- Checks to the drawing issue
- Machines and verifies parts are within customer required tolerances, using tape, micrometer, and caliper instruments
- Performs inspection of machined parts and documents the results
- Program CNC for machining operation using SmartCAM software
- Send and receive programs from and to CNC, and PC when required
- Checks to first off machined part, and random checks during the sale order
- Loads and unloads parts onto the machine using jib crane, fork truck, manual lifting
- Checks for damaged/worn tooling
- Marks each machined part with any customer requirements such as a part number
- Performs daily maintenance checks to CNC
- Operates fork trucks and jib cranes when required
- Performs daily safety checks to fork trucks and jib cranes, and vac-lifts
- Maintain Quality standards throughout the operational process and assists and develops process improvements to drive the company forward
- Manual lifting up to 20kgs
- Ensure productivity sheets are completed each day
- Ensure any swarf generated by the CNC is cleaned out at the end of each shift and when required
Person Specification:
Essential:
- A minimum of three years experience operating CNC milling machines
- A minimum of three years experience in metal processing
- Willing to work extra to meet deadlines and when the business needs require it
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the aerospace industry
- Experience using Stelplan
- Knowledge of Cam software systems and CNC programming
